MobiMedia 2015 call for papers: don’t miss the dates

Successfully deploying multimedia services and applications in mobile environments requires adopting an interdisciplinary approach where multimedia, networking and physical layer issues are addressed jointly. Content features analysis and coding, media access control, multimedia flow and error control, cross-layer optimization, Quality of Experience (QoE), media cloud as well as mobility management and security protocols are research challenges that need to be carefully examined when designing new mobile media architectures. We also need to put a great effort in designing applications that take into account the way the user perceives the overall quality of the provided service.

Within this scope, MobiMedia is intended to provide a unique international forum for researchers from industry and academia, working on multimedia coding, mobile communications and networking fields, to study new technologies, applications and standards. Original unpublished contributions are solicited that can improve the knowledge and practice in the integrated design of efficient technologies and the relevant provision of advanced mobile multimedia applications.

PervasiveHealth 2015: accepting papers, posters and more

Pervasive Health Conference is a premier international forum with specific focus on technologies and human factors related to the use of ubiquitous computing in healthcare and for wellbeing. The overall goal of the Pervasive Health Conference is to take a multidisciplinary approach to Pervasive Healthcare Technology research and development. The Pervasive Healthcare Community is addressing a broad scope of research topics and concerns:

  • identify and understand problems from a technological, social, medical, and legal as well as financial perspective (with a particular emphasis on understanding and supporting patients’ and practitioners’ needs);
  • design, implementation, and evaluation of supporting hardware and software infrastructures, algorithms, services and applications; and
  • organizational strategies that facilitate integration of Pervasive Healthcare Technology into the healthcare enterprise.

Traditional healthcare environments are extremely complex and challenging to manage, as they are required to cope with an assortment of patient conditions under various circumstances with a number of resource constraints. Pervasive healthcare technologies seek to respond to a variety of these pressures by successfully integrating them within existing healthcare environments. Technologies, standards and procedures on their own provide little and or no meaningful service. It is essential that pervasive healthcare environments, through a combined approach of data collection, data correlation and data presentation, assist healthcare professionals in delivering high levels of patient care, and empower individuals and their families for self-care and health management.

The Pervasive Healthcare Conference aims to gather technology experts, practitioners, industry and international authorities contributing towards the assessment, development and deployment of pervasive medical based technologies, standards and procedures.

How to innovate healthcare? Discover it at MobiHealth 2014

The 4th International Conference on Wireless Mobile Communication and Healthcare – “Transforming healthcare through innovations in mobile and wireless technologies” (MobiHealth 2014)  is to take place in a few days in Athens, Greece.

What is the goal of the conference? The main goal of MobiHealth 2014 is to exchange ideas and experiences alongside the discussions of cutting-edge research and practical challenges in the application of wireless communications, mobile computing, and sensing technologies in healthcare delivery. A colossal added value of the conference is the fact that it involves not only academicians, but also well-known practitioners and policy-makers in the field such as Andreas Lymberis (European Commission), Richard Kemkers (Philips Research Eindhoven), and Gisele Roesems-Kerremans (European Commission). This means that presentations will not be limited only to theoretical review of the issues in the field, but also concrete suggestions for setting standards based on participants’ first-hand experience.

What to expect from the conference? For the fourth time, MobiHealth proposes to focus on healthcare technology and the corresponding multifaceted challenges in Europe and globally. Hence, one should expect a multitude of original interdisciplinary inputs on the enhancement of the application of a wide range of technologies, standards, and methodologies in human healthcare.

MobiHealth2014 is full of extras: apart from regular sessions during the three days, the conference offers numerous co-located events such as student paper contest, five special sessions, and four workshops dedicated to topics requiring specific attention.

To make the most of participants’ MobiHealth experience, all accepted papers will be included in the Mobihealth 2014 Conference Proceedings and submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Last, but not least the meeting point is Athens (practical information). If you wish to follow the event on Twitter, the hashtag is #mHE14.
