ValueTools 2016, the 10th EAI International Conference on Performance Evaluation Methodologies and Tools, will take place in Taormina, Italy on 26-28 October, 2016.

ValueTools 2016 focuses on methodologies and practices in modeling, performance evaluation and optimization of complex systems. It gathers together researchers from different communities including Computer Science, Networks and Telecommunications, Operations Research, Optimization, Control Theory and Manufacturing.

The conference solicits previously unpublished contributions that propose new performance evaluation methodologies and new tools on the following topics of interest:

ValueTools 2016 is proud to welcome 3 keynote speakers: Prof. Kishor Trivedi (Duke University, North Carolina, USA) presenting the keynote speech entitled: ‘Reliability and Availability Modeling in Practice‘, Prof. Jiannong Cao (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) talking about ‘Mobile Cloud Application Partitioning in Dynamic and Multi-User Environments’ and Pierre L’Ecuyer (Université de Montréal, Canada) with the keynote speech on: ‘Supercanonical convergence rates in the simulation of Markov chains’.

Call for papers: InfQ 2016 Workshop

InfQ 2016, the Workshop on New Frontiers on Quantitative Methods in Informatics, will be held at the 10th EAI International Conference on Performance Evaluation Methodologies and Tools (ValueTools 2016), which will take place in Taormina, Italy on October 26-28, 2016.

The Workshop is held with the aim of opening a workshop arena where young researchers and PhD students can meet, share ideas and experiences with each other as well as with senior researchers.

Suggested topics for the landscape papers are to include but are not limited to:

– New Metrics: resilience, elasticity, acceptability, adaptability, vulnerability, sustainability, data quality, velocity, volume, variety, variability, veracity, QoE;
– New Techniques and Approaches: fluid models, heuristics and meta-heuristics, soft computing, matrix exponential, workflow, game theory and mechanism design, control theory, hierarchical/multi-formalisms, hybrid continuous/discrete-time models, partially stochastic model, emergent properties, collective and swarm intelligence, chaos theory, model-driven engineering, software performance engineering;
– New Problems: business models/costs, data/information modelling, largeness, complex phenomena and non-Markovian behaviours, soundness, orchestration, crowdsourcing;
– New Application Domains: biology, energy, health, smart cities, social and urban computing, cyber-physical systems, socio-technical sy.
