Researchers, practitioners, industry representatives, and all others interested in mobile and ubiquitous system gathered at the Eleventh Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous 2014) held on December 2-5 in London (UK).
The conference provided a meeting point for practitioners and researchers from various disciplines to discuss and exchange research results and ideas pertaining to various areas in mobile and ubiquitous systems such as applications, social networks, middleware, data management, and many others. The discussions have taken various forms – from the eight regular sessions and two keynote lectures to three workshops and poster and demo presentations.

The keynote lecturer Nigel Davies (Lancaster University) talked about the role of infrastructure in memory augmentation highlighting that the creation of new systems for memory augmentation raises serious challenges for mobile and ubiquitous researchers. The other keynote speaker Konstantina Papagiannaki (Telefonica Research and Innovation) from the industry point of view covered the topic of location based services focusing on the creation of the zero energy location sensor.
MobiQuitous 2014 featured three co-located workshops: the First Workshop on Cloud and Server Support for Wearable Computing ; CFP: Workshop on Internet of Things Ecosystems: Computing, Networking and Services; and Indoor/outdoor Location Based Services with their own speakers, keynote lecturers, and paper presentations.
MobiQuitous conferences do not end here: the next year’s edition chaired by Pei Zhang (Carnegie Mellon University) and Jorge Sá Silva (University of Coimbra) will be held on July 22-24, 2015 in Coimbra, Portugal. Moreover, potential participants can already check the preliminary calls for papers, workshops, and tutorials.
Stay tuned for MobiQuitous 2015!
